Will an elongated lid fit a round toilet bowl?

I know the flip to this question was asked already but I need to know if an elongated lid would be okay to use for a round toilet bowl. I found one in my parents backyard and would rather use it than buy a new round ulid. Also what is the cheapest round ulid I could find? Your help is much appreciated!
